Maryann Tower Gave Her Bio
Maryann started her career as a paralegal at a corporate defense law firm, and worked her way up to end up managing the paralegals.  Paralegals were an integral part of the team at the firm she worked at, and the work was varied, interesting, and required a fair amount of travel.

After retiring from law she worked at Perciak Hospice for a number of years, until the pandemic hit.  She is still involved in many local organizations in addition to the Rotary, including the American Wine Society.

Speaker

Robin Wood of the Cleveland Public Library provided a history and current status of the library.  The library was opened in 1869, and found its current home on Superior Avenue in 1925. There are 27 neighborhood branches, so every resident in Cleveland has a library within a mile of their home.

Ohio has a large number of library systems, and the Cuyahoga County Library is separate from the Cleveland Public Library (CPL).  Clevnet is a consortium of 47 library systems that CPL is a part of that share their catalogs.

CPL has a number of departments that are world renown, including their chess and miniature book collections.  They also have a maker space, as well as a large high resolution scanner that patrons can use to digitize posters and other arts that may be difficult to preserve otherwise.  In addition there are extensive map and photograph collections that can be used for research, as well access to online classrooms.
