The Rotary Club of Strongsville, in collaboration with Strongsville Fire and Emergency Services and the Rotary Club of New Amsterdam, successfully delivered 22 complete sets of firefighter gear to the New Amsterdam Fire Station in Guyana.

The handover ceremony highlighted the strength of international collaboration. The President of the Rotary Club of New Amsterdam, Navin Hansraj, shared that when Strongsville reached out with the opportunity, their club immediately partnered to ensure the safe delivery of the gear. He encouraged firefighters to use the equipment as intended to support their daily work.

Representing Strongsville, Inderjeet Ramdas emphasized the importance of international Rotary projects and the greater impact achieved when sister clubs work together across borders. He also expressed appreciation for the firefighters and their commitment to serving their communities.

Shanon Crawford, the Station Master welcomed the delegation and noted that firefighting is a shared community responsibility. He expressed gratitude for the collaboration and the generous donation, highlighting that such equipment is costly and greatly needed. He also expressed interest in continuing future partnerships.

Following the ceremony, members of the Rotary Club of New Amsterdam hosted a social gathering, where two tokens of appreciation were presented—one for the Rotary Club of Strongsville and another for Fire Chief Jack Draves of Strongsville Fire and Emergency Services.

This initiative reflects Rotary’s commitment to “Service Above Self” and demonstrates how local efforts can create meaningful global impact.
