Students from the Business Club visited us this year. They are allowed to be creative in the club in terms of the business they choose, as opposed to the business class where they do what the teacher tells them, as well as learning some more of the hands-on stuff that isn't covered in class. They are working on a business plan currently with the goal to have a complete business plan by the end of the year. They are also looking for business owners to talk to the after school club about their experiences in business If you are interested you can reach out to rvitale@scsmustangs.org
We welcomed Ursula Kaunas, the new director of the Strongsville Emergency Food Bank, as a guest speaker. Ursula, who joined the organization in July 2024, shared her journey of finding renewed purpose through community service after retiring from a 44-year career in business management and project management.
Under Ursula’s leadership, the food bank continues to expand its impact, serving 172 families, including seniors, small households, and large families. Programs like the PowerPack Program (that Cassie Weber spearheaded during her term as club president), which provides weekend meals for elementary students, and the recent addition of hygiene essentials highlight the food bank’s dedication to meeting evolving community needs.
With 80 volunteers and full funding from community donations, the food bank relies on the generosity of Strongsville residents and organizations like Rotary. Ursula also shared her vision for increasing outreach to underserved seniors and enhancing operations through technology updates, including a redesigned website.
The Strongsville Rotary Club was instrumental in building the food bank’s permanent home in 2014 and continues to support its operations. Ursula expressed her gratitude for Rotary members like Ryan Kiplinger and the countless volunteers who make this vital service possible.
