Speaker

Our speaker was Dan Hughes who is the committee chair with Boy Scout Troop 701.  Troop 701 is "owned" by the Strongsville Rotary Foundation.  The Scoutmaster is Wes Kent, who mainly deals with the scouts, Dan Hughes is the committee chair, who deals mostly with the adults, and Dan Sage is the Chartered Organization Rep.

The Troop is the largest troop in Lake Erie Council with 55 scouts, from Strongsville, Brunswick, Berea, North Olmsted and Olmsted Township.  The troop is a scout led troop, meaning the scouts are responsible for planning, organizing and implementing all the activities of the troop, with the scoutmaster and other adults providing advice and making sure they stay legal.

The Scouts spend a lot of time camping (1,369 total nights), hiking, and community service, with 1,160 total hours of community service.  The troop was also featured on the cover of Scout Life for one of the big trips they took, and made the most of all the opportunities they have.
