Member Recognition
Last week Ashley recognized the following "Rotarians Being Good": Dave Houle for taking the food to the Foodbank, Eddy Bond for his help finding speakers, Sandy Croft for welcoming our speaker Ms Wheelchair Ohio, and inviting her to join our club, and Paul Psota for bringing in Beth as a new member.
StrongFest
The event will benefit the Town Center Initiative in addition to other Rotary projects throughout the year. The Town Center Initiative will enhance the center of Strongsville, and provide a better space for events like StrongFest in years to come.
We are currently focused on selling tickets, and recruiting volunteers.
In addition to online ticket sales paper tickets will be available at the meeting if you want some that you can sell.
If you are on Facebook visit the event page at https://fb.me/e/3p1iknGIf mark yourself "Going" or "Interested", and share the event and invite your friends.
Speaker
Our speaker was Will Ortiz, an instructor at the Parma Armory who discussed the new "Constitutional Carry" law in Ohio, what it means for gun owners, and why you might still want a concealed carry permit as it does provide more freedoms and less restrictions with the training that is required.
For example Ohio has reciprocity with 43 states that allows you to carry your gun if you have a permit. If you don't have a permit in most states you will not be able to carry.
Another example is that with a concealed carry permit you are allowed to have a firearm in your car dropping your kids off at school. Without the permit firearms are not allowed on school property, and that is considered a felony.
In addition businesses can still prevent concealed carry on their property, and the new law did not change that.
