Rotary
Ashley highlighted a letter from the RI President in this month's Rotarian magazine. It was a reminder that different people join Rotary for different reasons, but it is always the result of an invitation. As you are out and about telling people that you are a Rotarian, and all the great things we do, invite them to breakfast, maybe they want to join. The goal of Rotary is to increase the share of female members to 30%.
George Tomko in his Rotary Moment reminded us that the magazine is an interesting read to find out what's happening around the world in Rotary Clubs, and that when he was president of the club he would have a quick trivia question out of the magazine each month to encourage people to read it.
Jim Karecki stopped into the meeting with a thank you letter from the VFW for the club's help with the poppy drive, and also to invite us to the VFW Golf Outing Friday August 19th at Hickory Nut. Contact Jerry Balint if you are interested in being part of a Rotary foursome.
Member Recognition
Last week Ashley recognized Jamie Debenham as Rotarian of the Month for his work organizing volunteers for the Pita Tent.
Bob Schmieler, Tom Laub and Scott Maloney were also recognized as "Rotarians Being Good" for their efforts in getting a local woman transportation in the form of a bicycle.
StrongFest
The event will benefit the Town Center Initiative in addition to other Rotary projects throughout the year. The Town Center Initiative will enhance the center of Strongsville, and provide a better space for events like StrongFest in years to come.
In addition to online ticket sales paper tickets will be available at the meeting if you want some that you can sell.

Speaker
Our speaker was District Governor Dave Jones, who shared his history in Rotary, which started by being invited to speak at a Rotary Club as a speaker, and realized the values were the same values his father had instilled in him as they moved around the country and to four countries courtesy of the Air Force.
His vision for the district is similar to Ashley's goal for the club, which is increasing membership, as many clubs lost members during the pandemic.
