Manjit Khuban's table won the The Queen of Hearts drawing. They are responsible for putting up the banners and selling tickets. There are 50 cards left, and the Queen is $54.
Grant Management Seminars
Do be eligible for matching grants from the Rotary District or International we need two people to attend a grant management seminar. Scott Maloney will be attending. The closest location will be 6pm on March 1st at the Middleburg Height Public Library. If you are able to attend please reach out.
Kids Fest / Duck Race Committee
The Chalet is reserved for June 4th. Rick Weiser is looking for a co-chair for the event this year. This person will be working with Rick throughout the planning process, ready to chair meetings if Rick is unavailable, and be the point person the day of the event. Rob Simon gave his bio
Rob likes being involved in groups with a purpose and outreach - that is Rotary! He is Club Secretary for the first year, handling Membership Management and also assisted with Tower of Treasure and Prize Vault. He is a West Sider but spent 10 years growing up in North Carolina and Tennessee and graduated from Ohio University.
His wife of 32 years is Beth who is an Early Intervention Specialist with young children; son Jonathan is 26 a Doctor of Physical Therapy; Daughter Emily is 23 a researcher in a PhD program at U of Florida.
After 33 years in moving and storage business and 21 years as the CFO, left for a change - started my own business services , Vend Advisors, to be a part time outsourced CFO for small businesses.
Rob knew of Strongsville Rotary for 25 years working in Strongsville and would see the many advertisements for all the events, but could not join then. Once on his own and meeting Colton while networking he came, joined and stayed!
Our speaker was Chris Surak of Eighty-Three Brewery in Akron
Chris is the son of former member Matt Surak.
Chris and his wife Steph opened the brewery in 2019, but Chris’ love of brewing beer started well
before that. Starting with a home brewing kit from his wife, Chris learned the craft from the bottom up.
Their Berliner Weisse, “Berliner Nice” a 2021 Great American Beer Festival Silver Medal winner is a naturally soured wheat ale.
