Students

Students from the Interact Club visited us this week.  They are the high school club associated with the Rotary Club.

Speaker

This morning, our club had the pleasure of hearing from Sanjana Katiyar, president of the University of Cincinnati Rotaract Club. She shared how their organization, founded in 2021, has grown to over 100 members who are passionate about community service, professional development, and international understanding. Many of their members, including international students from countries like Nepal, Germany, and India, have continued their involvement with Rotaract after participating in similar clubs back home or through Interact in high school.

Sanjana highlighted some of their recent activities, including the success of their International Thanksgiving Dinner, which brought together over 350 students for a night of food and cultural performances. This event, aimed at supporting international students who cannot travel home for the holiday, was entirely planned and executed by the Rotaract team with help from volunteers and Cincinnati Rotarians. She also described their ongoing service initiatives, such as Clifton neighborhood clean-ups and creating friendship bracelets and postcards for children in Ghana.

The club’s upcoming focus is on the Ghana Schools Project, an initiative led by their advisor, Dr. Tony. This project delivers textbooks, desks, and medical supplies to schools and clinics in Ghana. During their spring break trip in March, Sanjana and her executive team will personally deliver these items and meet with local students to emphasize the importance of education. They are currently fundraising to support this impactful trip.

It was inspiring to hear how the UC Rotaract Club has become one of the most active in the region. Their efforts exemplify the Rotary spirit, and we look forward to seeing the results of their work in Ghana and beyond.
