Strongsville Community Theater Celebrates Nearly 30 Years of Performances and Youth Engagement
At our recent Rotary meeting, Marcia Wonnacott, representing the Strongsville Community Theater, provided an inspiring overview of the theater’s history, growth, and future plans. Founded in 1995, the theater is set to celebrate its 30th anniversary next year. Over the years, it has produced a wide range of performances, including musicals, dramas, mysteries, and youth productions—all run by dedicated volunteers.
Wonnacott highlighted the theater’s commitment to community involvement and creating a welcoming, inclusive environment. Liz Jones, the theater’s new manager, emphasized the renewed focus on youth programs. After a $10,000 donation from the theater, a drama club will be reintroduced at Strongsville Middle School, and new youth workshops are planned for 2025.
In addition to these educational initiatives, the theater continues its scholarship program, which has awarded over $30,000 to local high school seniors pursuing performing arts studies.
The upcoming Tribute to Cole Porter benefit show will be held on October 25th and 26th at the Strongsville Recreation Center, with proceeds supporting the theater’s scholarship fund. This lively event will feature performances by a talented group of singers and musicians. Singer Cindy Smith accompanied on the piano by Doug Day gave a great preview.
