Good Friday Reflections from Rev. Abby Auman
Rev. Abby Auman of Strongsville United Methodist Church joined us on Good Friday with a powerful message reflecting on the depth and meaning of the day.
She began with a lighthearted nod to past Rotary connections and invited members to a Habitat for Humanity wall build at her church on Saturday, June 21— a hands-on opportunity to serve the community.
Her central message focused on Good Friday as a day to confront humanity’s worst—betrayal, injustice, and violence—while also recognizing the profound love and forgiveness embodied by Jesus. Drawing from Luke 23, she shared the crucifixion story and challenged us to consider how Christ’s radical forgiveness offers a path to hope and renewal.
Unlike cultural holidays that have strayed from their spiritual roots, Good Friday remains a moment to reflect, repent, and recognize that “love wins”—not through power, but through sacrifice.
