Around Town

The Strongsville Chamber is hosting a lunch to “Get to Know Your Strongsville City Council, SCS Board of Ed & Candidates” on Tuesday September 16th.  The cost is $25 for members, $30 for non-members.  If you are interested in attending let Barry know, and we may put a Rotary table together.

Rosewood

Thanks to everyone who has already supported the club by ordering from the prix-fixe menu at Rosewood on Sunday's in August.  The Strongsville Rosewood Grill is leading all the Hospitality Restaurant Group locations in number of meals ordered.  There are still 2 Sundays left, so let's keep the momentum going!  You can share on social media, either the club's posts, or if you go share your experience.

Meet Our New President

At Friday's meeting, our new club president, Barry Kuzmickas, shared both his personal journey and his vision for the year ahead.

Growing up in a working-class family, he learned responsibility early—holding jobs from a young age and often finding himself in leadership roles before he expected them. That pattern continued throughout his career, where he advanced through transportation, HR, and eventually labor arbitration, often stepping up when no clear successor was ready. Married 50 years, with three children and nine grandchildren, he continues to value family and community at the center of his life.

For Rotary, his focus this year is on developing future leaders and strengthening our youth outreach. He emphasized the importance of mentoring the next generation—both within the club and through partnerships with local schools. Plans include:

  • Expanding youth services, with closer connections to schools and families.
  • Reviving member bios at meetings, so new members learn the history and contributions of long-time Rotarians.
  • Creating quarterly “town hall” meetings for open discussion.
  • Building stronger committees to share the work and develop leadership for the future.
  • Enhancing fellowship with regular evening socials, offering new opportunities for members and guests to connect.

He reminded us that leadership often comes from being willing to raise your hand and step in when needed—and that this year, our club has the chance to do just that together.

Hospitality for Hope 2025
Support the Strongsville Rotary at Rosewood Grill Strongsville throughout August!

Join us at Rosewood Grill Strongsville this August for "Hospitality for Hope", which returns for a second year. Every Sunday this August, enjoy a special 3-course meal and know that half of your dinner proceeds will go toward supporting the Strongsville Rotary. Together, we can make a difference for those in need in Northeast Ohio.  Check out the menu.
Starting on Sunday, August 3rd and running for the next four Sundays, customers dining at selected Hospitality Restaurants will have the opportunity to support local charities by enjoying a delicious 3-course fixed-price meal, with half of the proceeds being donated.

Hospitality Restaurants operates eight fine dining establishments in Northeast Ohio and has collaborated with local supplier partners such as Cantanese Seafood, Blue Ribbon Meats, Sanson Produce, and Mitchell's Ice Cream to bring the "Hospitality for Hope" program to life.

“We are honored to continue this tradition of giving back in a way that brings our guests and teams together in support of the communities we call home,” said George Schindler, Co-Founder of Hospitality Restaurants. “The response last year was incredibly heartwarming, and we are excited to expand the impact this year.”

Linda Ekey, Co-Managing Partner of Hospitality Restaurants and lead coordinator of the initiative, emphasized the value of community engagement. “Our teams take pride in this effort,” Ekey noted. “It’s more than a meal — it’s an opportunity to make a difference.”
