Walk To End Alzheimers
The Strongsville Rotary proudly participated in the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s, raising over $2,100 to support Alzheimer’s research, care, and support
programs. The walk, held on October 19 at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, was high energy on a brisk Saturday morning. The club’s fundraising efforts were part of a broader campaign to bring awareness to Alzheimer’s disease and the critical need for research. Funds raised will directly support the Alzheimer’s Association’s mission to advance research and provide essential care services for those affected by the disease. The overall Cleveland Walk to end ALZ raised over $690,000. The Strongsville Rotary has been involved with the Walk to End Alzheimer’s for two years, the 2025 date will be announced shortly. Alzheimer’s impacts so many lives - Thank you to all Rotary members who supported this effort.

Hospitality For Hope
Hospitality Restaurants is giving back to the communities their restaurants are in during November. For the Rosewood Grill in Strongsville the Strongsville Rotary Foundation will be the beneficiary. Every Sunday in November they will have a prix-fixe menu, and half of that price will be donated to our Strongsville Rotary Foundation. We will have a Facebook post next week that you can share throughout the community, as the donation applies to all who dine, not just Rotarians.

Speaker
Jim Rodstrom, Director of Construction for Cleveland Metroparks, recently shared updates on major ongoing and completed projects across the park system:
Garfield Park Pond Restoration: Metroparks has revitalized the Garfield Pond area, restoring both the upper and lower ponds and constructing a new program center for community events. The project also includes new wetland boardwalks designed to help manage floodwaters from Wolf Creek.
Squire’s Castle Renovation (North Chagrin Reservation): The historic Squire’s Castle has been fully renovated. Crews restored the castle’s cedar shake roof and dormers, staying true to its original design from over 100 years ago.
Tornado Damage Recovery: After August’s tornadoes he estimated 800 trees fell, and Metroparks crews cleared fallen trees across multiple reservations that impacted roadways, trails and buildings. Restoration efforts were quick, with most parks reopening within days, highlighting the team's dedication.
Hinckley Dam Project: Currently underway, this project addresses potential overflow risks by constructing a new dam in front of the existing one. Once completed, the lake will undergo sediment dredging, further ensuring the dam's long-term safety and functionality.
Wallace Lake Project: Scheduled for completion by Spring 2025, the Wallace Lake project includes new concession buildings, a Sunset Plaza, and improved recreational areas for visitors to enjoy, modernizing this popular destination.
Patrick S. Parker Community Sailing Center: A new community sailing center is in the works at East 55th Marina. This project will also repurpose a historic barge into a floating nature and education center, aimed at increasing access to Lake Erie for local youth.
