Meeting Recap

Stacey Streeter Explores Senior Living Options

Our speaker last Friday was fellow club member Stacey Streeter of Oasis Senior Advisors, who shared valuable guidance on navigating senior living.

Stacey’s work grew from personal experience. After her father-in-law was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, her family struggled to understand the many care options available. A senior living advisor helped them find the right placement—and inspired Stacey to enter the field herself.

She explained the differences among independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, in-home care and continuing-care retirement communities. Through stories from families she has helped, Stacey showed that moving into senior living can provide greater safety, better nutrition, companionship and an improved quality of life.

Her most important advice was to explore the options and discuss preferences before a crisis occurs. Although costs, care needs and payment sources vary considerably, solutions are often available—including veterans’ benefits, long-term-care insurance, Medicaid programs and short-term financial assistance.
