Meeting Recap

Ashley Gay gave the invocation and led the pledge.

Students

We had two groups of students Friday.  Mike Rodak brought in a few students from the Credit Recovery Program and the Strongsville Academy.  The credit recovery program is designed for students who have had problems in the past, and need to retake classes to have enough credits to graduate.  It focuses on having the students own where they are now, and work towards graduation from there.  The Strongsville Academy helps students who learn mostly online, and provides resources in the school to assist them.
The second group was the Project Support Team, which pairs peers with students with disabilities, and every month they get together and do something fun.

Birthdays

We celebrated our March birthdays: Carl Vasch, Scott Maloney, Jim Dettmer, Rick Weiser, Dick Kiplinger, James Carbone and Kevin Kennedy.  Rotary anniversaries were Dave Houle (33), Manny Garcia (29), Dan Cricks (29), Tom Gigliotti (28), Sandy Croft (20), Ken McEntee(18), Ashley Gay (13), Bruce Kahn (11), Michele Lynch (4) and Gloria Harris-Isom (3).  Instead of spinning the wheel Michele setup a basketball game in honor of March Madness, which Bruce Kahn won.

Pictures With the Easter Bunny

Pictures with the Easter Bunny will be April 1st.  Jim Morehouse is chairing the event and looking for a few volunteers.

Happy Buck Corner

Sarah Rintamaki of Connecting for Kids, who was one of our speakers in January is looking for volunteers on Tuesday April 11th from 6:30 to 8pm at the Middleburg Hts Branch of the Cuyahoga Public Library.  They offer childcare during our parent presentations and they could use lots of volunteers to give attention to kids. We have found that a little 1:1 attention can reduce most of the behaviors while families are learning in the other room.

Rotarians are welcome to bring their own children 13+ to come volunteer with them.
There will be an intervention specialist and a speech-language therapist in the room with the children and the volunteers so there will be experts to guide you.

If you are interested you can reach out to Sarah Rintamaki: sarahrintamaki@connectingforkids.org / 216-570-4326

Program

TJ Gigliotti gave an overview of the results of the Chili Open.  The three new members inducted April 15th, 2022 (TJ, Sean Kilbane, and Sean Grandage) were pressed into service six months later when the club decided the Chili Open was a go, and they would play critical roles, with Ashley giving them one prime objective, don't lose money.

Three and a bit months later we had a great Chili Open event, thanks to contributions from the entire club.  We surpassed revenue in many categories, and even with the late start getting corporate sponsors and auction items the event was a success, and netted just over $50,000.  Thanks to all who helped, and Ashley presented "Chilly Willy" awards to many of the committee chairs who made the event possible.
