Queen of Hearts

Michele Lynch's table won the drawing.  The Queen of Hearts is worth $325 and there are 42 cards left.  They are responsible for putting up the banners and selling tickets this week.
 

Christmas Program

We are having our Christmas Program tomorrow morning.  Ken Mehalko just tested positive for Covid, so he will not be present.  We still plan to have a great program for you.  We do encourage everyone to take care in the morning, as the weather may make travel tricky.
 

New Year Program

Next week will be our new year alumni program.  If you know any past Rotarians who are in town for the holidays please invite them to the meeting.  We will have some bubbly, and the chance to reflect both on the year that passed, as well as previous years and friends.

Meeting Recap

Pat Hayes led the invocation and pledge.
 
Ashley recognized Brent Painter as Rotarian of the month for his help with the new member orientation and biz expo.
Member Bio
Amy Kocian gave her bio.  She is a returning former Rotarian having been a member of the club in 2013 when she worked for Southwest Community Health Foundation.  She now works for Paul Psota at Altenheim as Director of Institutional Advancement.  She is married with a 26 year old son, and lives in North Ridgeville with her husband and three rescue cats.
Credit Recovery Academy
Dan Cricks talked about and presented a video from Mike Rodak talking about the program he his now teaching, and his request for a recognition board, that had already been produced and is now hanging in the classroom.
 
The program is designed to help students who need credits to graduate who are missing them for any reason go through the class and earn their credits, and they have about 350 classes in the first semester that need to be passed.
Chili Open
The Chili Open planning is well under way.  We do still need plenty of volunteers to help prepare the event.  If you are able to help out between now and the end of February please talk to TJ or another Chili Open committee member. Help is particularly needed with the corporate sponsor and auction committees.  
 
In honor of the 30th anniversary tickets are $30 until January 30th, $120 a foursome until February 14th, and $50 at the door.  We are also selling VIP tickets this year for $125, with a minimum purchase of 2.  Tickets are currently on sale on the website chiliopen.com 
Community Service Award
Our Strongsville Rotary Foundation presented two years of Harry Fuerher Community Service Awards.  The 2021 award was presented to Jerry Balint, and the 2022 award to David Knowles for their service to the community.
 
Mayor Perciak was also present to Proclaim that December 16th, 2022 as a day of celebration for Jerry Balint and David Knowles.
 
In addition Kip and Bill DeMarco, Strongsville Rotary Foundation President, presented Harry Fuerher Fellow plaques to the new fellows, including the family of George Grozan who were represented by Laura Grozan and Bill Matthews.
